KABUKI

KABUKI is one of the Japanese traditional arts. All the actors are male. So, the male actors play the female parts.

KABUKI is popular because the scenery and costumes are beautiful.
Some plays are serious, even tragic, and others are comedies.

If you buy tickets for good seats for a whole program, it is expensive.

But it is cheap from the upper gallery.

Hi there Masa! thanks for the interesting post. I see you switched to English... Kabuki is very interesting - it is male only (I even googled the reasons why and found out that historically it was actuallly female only!...) Is is still male even these days? This reminded me of Beijing opera for some reason (it used to be male only - but till 19th century). is Kabuki popular in Japan? Those pictures are just beutiful by the way... Thank you for the comment. I like all the colours and don't have a favourite one although i can confess that at certain periods of time I like some colours more than others :)Oh, I think 'Lost in translation' is worth seeing...
